This web page acknowledges allegiance to the Supreme Assembly, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, whose seat of authority is in McAlester, Oklahoma, of which Reverend W. Mark Sexson was the founder and Mrs. Marie Renda  (2006-2008) is Supreme Worthy Advisor, and to the Grand Jurisdiction of Texas of which Mrs. Marlene Dibrell, is our Supreme Deputy, and Sister Shelley Ashcraft (2007-2008) is our Grand Worthy Advisor.

Big Spring Assembly #60 was instituted in 1924 and demised in 1928. In 1946, under the leadership of Mrs. Martha Marie Whitfield, the assembly was reorganized, receiving their old number. In 1996, they celebrated their 50th anniversary.
The assembly has had one Grand Worthy Advisor, Vevagene Apple Williams, 38 Grand Officers and 17 Mother Advisors. One Mother Advisor, Mrs. Edie Fryer, served 17 years, others served several years each. We have taken as many as two bus loads and as few as 5 to Grand Assembly, but have been represented at Grand Assembly every year.
In 1947, when Big Spring was still small but growing, our Steer football team played in a pasture north of town, and we asked for and received permission to sell sandwiches and coffee. We have had one of the concessions ever since and this money making project has been a lifeline to our assembly. So many thanks are due to our Eastern Star and Masonic supporters who help every year and to the many girls who sold programs.

Each Sister of Charity has a project she presents to the Assembly. We helped four blind girls to go to the school for the blind. We give to the Bible fund, collect used hose and cancelled stamps. We helped move the books from our old library to a beautiful new one. Christmas is so special and we select an elderly person and a child every year from the 'angel trees', buying clothes and a toy.
A member and her mother and Eastern Stars bring refreshments for each meeting. We celebrate holidays and this provides a bit of fun after the meeting.
The greatest blessing we have had has been Mrs. Pearl Mills and her husband, Hubert. Mrs. Mills,  has been an inspiration and help and we love her very much.
